Work of famous Soviet painter and engraver Evgeny Sergeevich Teis (1900 - 1981). Born in 1900, Evgeny S. Teis' creative work was predominantly inspired by the 1900s and 1910s. The first decades of the 20th century were defined by the energetic development of visual and pictorial art. These years were an time of experimentation, with artists delving into ideas surrounding Post-Impressionism, Expressionism and Abstraction. This work was executed as part of his theatrical work in 1930s. The work is signed by Teis on the back. The work is in very good condition for it's age. Paper is showing some age related color change. The work is bought from the late person private collection

The presented object appears to be a drawing in sepia or ink on paper with unknown measurements. The drawing depicts a plenum of an theater or opera in a caricature style and is signed by in hand with pencil on the reverse side by the Russian artist Evgeny S. TEIS (1900-1981).
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold in a few numbers on the international auction market. Drawings were until now also very rarely on the art market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
