Description

I had purchased the item at an antique store. It measures 12" tall and is quite heavy for its size. I can not find a signature or a limited edition number. It appears to have a foundry mark on one side as pictured. It has the number 64 on the front of the piece as well as the back towards the bottom but is hard to read. No sure if the front is the artist or it stands for something? Thank you

What does this mean?

This is a vintage Mid-Century Modern era, dated 1964, forged metal mounted decorative figural sculpture of a woman. When viewed from the side, it reveals with woman is with child. This is done in the influence of Danish Modern aesthetic. The signature Blizzard is likely for the Australian sculptor, Peter Blizzard (1940 - 2010). Blizzard graduated from art school in 1967, so if this is a work by him it would have been during his student years. The green surface oxidation indicates this should be copper metal. The estimate is based on past sales of comparables.
