What does this mean?

Hi Erica,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
If you'd like for your appraisal to include dimensions, which is customary, please forward in the comments section - at your convenience - the height, width and depth and I'll update this ASAP.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A set of six American turned wood side chairs
made by S. Bent & Brothers, Gardner, Mass, mid/late 19th Century
Each with bentwood back enclosing five turned spindles, over a shaped molded seat, raised on straight turned legs joined by a double box stretcher and reinforced by a metal X-stretcher.
(DIMENSIONS)
CONDITION: Not examined in person but appears to be in good condition; value assumes condition of all chairs are similar to one shown in the photographs.
$500-700 for the set*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.

Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.

Thank you!

I found a similar chair and they were asking over $900 for one. I found a set of two that didn’t exactly match and they were asking for over $1800

I suspect those are retail prices (Mearto's values are fair market, for auction) but I'm happy to reconsider my valuation - please send me the links where you saw those prices and I'll take a look.

I will send you the dimensions and links when I get out of work.

Thank you.
