Figure of family shaped into a tree trunk
Italy
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
You appear to have a piece of Murano Italian blown glass, in the abstract form of an embracing couple tapering down into naturalistic foliage/tree trunks. The glass is ombre in that it graduates from a dark brown, to a lighter amber.
Typically there is not significant value in Murano glass, unless it is made by certain designers/artists, such as Dino Rosin, Cenedese, Paolo Venini, to name but a few. Stylistically, I'm not identifying it as being produced by a notable company or artist. You did not mention any marks, which would be to the underside. If you discover any, please do let me know.
*edit: the maker is Vetro Artistico
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I'm happy to help.
Thank you for submitting the photos. The maker in this case, does indeed make a difference to the estimate! Vetro Artistico ("Artistic Glass") is a fairly commercial maker, but it does give the piece a little extra something. Please see my revised estimate.
Crikey! Can't believe it's only worth that much.
Cheers Corey. I did find a sticker and a signature. The glass statue weighs 9kg.
