I inherited them and so I have no idea, dear, who made them and there is no name or label in any of them except one that says Handmade in India. I would say they are in good shape, the linings are intact, although fragile.
Each is about 3x5 with one a slightly smaller dimension
Hi Judy,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Beaded handbags have had enduring appeal for well over a century, and their popularity comes from a blend of craftsmanship, artistry, and fashion history.
The four beaded ones probably date from the 1920s to 1940s; the one that was made in India looks like it's black (or navy) velvet with a metallic braid handle is a little later, from the 1950s.
Beaded handbags of these vintage by unknown makers usually sell at auction for around $100 if the condition is good, which these seem to be. The group has a fair-market value of 400-600. It's important to note that this represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; vintage clothing/accessories dealers will likely ask higher retail prices.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
