Wood frame. Seat and Seat Back - carpetbag w/canvas lining, back tacked with upholstery brass(?) tacks. There used to be fringe around the seat. Dimensions: 31" floor to top of back, (up to but not including decorative wood), 13" floor to seat, rockers - 24", seat 14"D, 19"T back, 13" back/seat (up to but not including decorative wood and/or chair frame. Seat has leather- ish edging.
My Grandmother told me it came from the civil war, perhaps an Officer used it in a tent during battles? Because it folded, it was easy to transport. Never been exhibited.

An antique Victorian folding rocking side chair
American, mid 19th Century
With arched crest over six short turned spindles, the back and seat upholstered with needlepoint panels and brass tack trim, the hinged frame pivoting at the back of the seat, raised on short square legs on rockers.
31 inches overall height, 14 inches wide, 24 inches length of rockers
CONDITION: wear appears commensurate with age and use. Upholstery with some fading and fraying at the front seat rail.
