Folkeslunda Limestone Fossil
Middle Ordovician Period (463.5 to 460.9 million years ago)
Excavation Location: Sweden
A Brachiopod (possibly Lingulata) and other small fossilized shell remnants or plant matter in a limestone matrix. While it is a common find across Europe and Asia; this example is well preserved and has a clear distinction in the fossil form. Item measurements: Fossil length, 4.5 cm; overall approximate weight is 2 to 3 kilograms. No filling or other preservation materials appear on the surface. I reviewed current retail and auction values in the United States and converted the fair market values to NOK. While the price range would be standard in any national market; fossils do tend to sell at the higher rate in Northern Europe.
