This is a oil painting showing a old fashioned scene of Horse and Carriage on a cobbled street with gas lamposts. The oil painting measures in frame 45" inches long by 25" inches tall. The artist has signed the painting on the bottom right of the painting in red, but I could not make out the artist signature or mark and it was difficult to photograph (please see picture included, I am hoping you have better luck then me). I do not know the age of the painting but it looks to be professionally framed.
Brought from a local dealer/artist who was downsizing her collection.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a german cityscape painting, depicting an evening or night scene with horse carriage in a south german town, possibly in Franken or Bavaria. The street lantern and the welded iron shop or Inn sign and the architecture are typical for this region. The painting was executed in the 1960s, oil on canvas with scratching out, indistinctly signed Kindler or similar. Unfortunately no artist with this or a similar name is listed, or the style does not match the name. This would be a typical purely decorative painting produced for home decor and most likely sold in a Department store in the 1960s or early 1970s. Similar items sell in the price range listed, "Asking Prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
