Hand knotted French Aubusson rug. No sku, just a small sewn in tag with number. It’s about 40 years old and was purchased overseas by a now congressman. Was physician who took care of Saddam Hussein after capture and wrote a book about event. Given to me and has been in a box ever since.

Hi Leigh,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Most Aubusson rugs of this size and vintage bring less than $500 at auction these days but it's connection to the doctor who cared for the notorious Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein before his execution adds to its value.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage French Aubusson wool rug
