I purchased this from a man cleaning out his parents home. The desk resided in his father's law office since 1994. His father purchased the desk from an antique dealer.

This example has a lovely walnut veneer with burl wood panels, all outlined by gilded metal mounts and with a leather top. The piece was actually made in the 20th century in the style of 18th century French Rococo. The style has remained popular at various times ever since.
Because of it's popularity, similar vintage, French desks with banded inlay and burl inlay and gilded metal mounts sell between $400 and $500USD and every once and again, $700USD, depending upon the day and the auction house.
