What does this mean?

Hello Leon,
Thank you for sending in this pocket watch to meafto.com for an appraisal. Since I have not heard back from you that you received my email message, I will do this appraisal for you with what I can see in your photos.
TITLE:
Gent’s, size 16 (or possibly size 12), gold filled, pendant wound and pendant set, savonette, hunting case pocket watch, Grade 293 with “G. Washington” on the dial, made for the English market, made by the Elgin Watch company, Elgin, Illinois, USA circa 1915. Accompanied by a gilt (gold-filled) link watch chain of the same era.
DESCRIPTION:
Case – Size 16, gold filled, three leaf, hunting case pocket watch with a fluted suppressed ball pendant and oval bow placed at the three position (savonette) opposite the case hinge. One cover is shown and appears to be engine turned and engraved with flowers and leafy vines with a cameo in the center for the owner’s initials. The interior of the covers is NOT shown and these would provide the quality of the gold case. I will assume this is a gold-filled case but it could have ben made in 14k gold, but much less likely.
Dial – Single sunk white enameled dial made in the English manner with a bold black foreshortened Roman hour chapter ring, closed minute ring, steel Continental style Spade hands, sunken subsidiary second dial and signed in script, ‘G. Washington’, and in print ‘Elgin’, both in the upper dial center. He G. Washington would be on the dial simply as an advertising ploy since Elgin did not make a G. Washington grade movement.
Movement – NOT SHOWN, but most likely a size 16, a Grade 293, Class 110, Model 7, split three quarter gilt plate movement using 7 jewels, pendant wound a pendant set, most likely signed Elgin National watch company, seven jewels with a serial number. This is a type of movement that Elgin made for almost four decades (1904-1943) and in a total of three quarters of a million movements. This grade movement is not of railroad grade, nor adjusted for positions.
Condition – case – very good. Dial very good. Movement Not evaluated but will assume it is similar to what I have described above.
COMMENTARY: A number of these dials have been seen on mid-grade 12- and 16-size Elgins mostly from the late 19teens to early 1920s. The "G. Washington" is in signature-style script, and "Elgin" is below in block letters. I have not yet run across any advertising that would indicate this is an Elgin-named line, nor any reference to a particular retailer/jobber by that name. Apparently, the G. Washington script signature also occurs on Elgin 16 size watch dials using Grade 386, model 6, 17 jewels (also Grade 293 made with seven jewels) movements dating to circa 1916, as well as in size 12, Grade 303, model 3, 7 jewels (also Grade 345 with 17 jewels) and dating to circa 1920. Such watches were made to honor George Washington and Abe Lincoln and advertisements are known dating to 1941 and mad by the Elgin Watch company. These various grades al sell in the same range if in very good condition of $60-$80.

PRICING:
Although not often seen such watches with G. Washington and A. Lincoln on the dial are not a rarity and in the past two decades have sold in the fair market range of $60-$80. Saying that it is important to understand that watch prices have lowered during the past twenty years and such a watch might sell for $40-$60 today. If made in solid 14k gold, however, the value would increase to $300-$400 in today’s market. Retail prices would be about double the fair market value.
Thank you for using mearto.com for your appraisal. In the future please try to supply photos of the entire watch to obtain the most accurate pricing and details.
My best,
David

Dear Leon,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you,
1- Can you please upload a picture or photo of what is written on the inside of the covers of the watch case?
2- Can you please upload a picture of the movement so that I can read the serial number of the movement?
That will let me do a more precise appraisal for you.

Let me know if you are able to do this.
Thanks,
David
