Hello Deborah,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, glass quality and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Blown, likely Murano Glass Small Bowl, Ashtray. The piece likely dates back to the period from 1960 to 1980. The piece was blown by the famous Venetian technique of "Sommerso". The Sommerso technique is a technique that enables the artist to make a double or triple skin to the glass body, mostly in different colours. These pieces were made especially during the mid-century by a couple of specific artists, Alessandro Mandruzzato, Archimede Seguso, Cenedese are among the most renowned artists of the type. Your piece was likely produced in this period as well, the piece has a intense red colour inside the glass body while it has a honey tone yellow on it's outer layer. The circular outline of the peice was actually constructed based on a triangular shape. The finish of the base is different from the types other examples which have more smooth finishes, this might be due to a different producing atelier. There is no visible signature or acid marks on the piece. The piece is in food condition with signes of use and age as well as some scratches.
