Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a near antique chair from the alpine region of Europe, sometimes called swiss mountain chair, tyrolean chair or Brettstuhl. The mechanical music-box in the seat plays music from the 1931 movie "Der Kongress tanzt" staring Lilian Harvey. The chair´s backrest features the mountain plants Edelweiss and Enzian, traditionally associated with the alpine region, especially Austria and Switzerland. The quality of the carving is excellent and was most likely done in Brienz, Switzerland, which has a long tradition of wood carving. The estimate is based on similar Brienzer wood carvings sold or offered at auction.
