Colorful porcelain girl with dog pushing a carriage, only marking indicates Made in Occupied Japan
Hi Steve,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This figure on this small planter is quite like Hummel figures made by Wm Goebel in Germany (West Germany) in the mid and late 20th Century. Goebel was very careful to stamp or mark their wares but I've found a few others on the market like this that are also not marked other than "Made in Occupied Japan;" these sell for quite nominal sums, with ones in this size for $25 or less.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Hummel style porcelain figural planter
made in Occupied Japan, mid 20th Century
Featuring a girl pushing a four-wheeled cart with floral decoration, a dog at her feet. The underside marked in green "MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN".
4-1/4 inches high, 4 inches long
CONDITION: This planter appears to be in generally good condition with some minor craquelure to the glaze and minor dust accumulation to the interior.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 15-25*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
