Limoges France All gold flower pattern with a band of platinum
Approximately 4w x 10h
Hi Erin,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
While 24K gold and platinum are both costly materials - and I've no doubt this jar might have been pricy to acquire new , or may be listed on retail sites as Chairish or 1stDibs, such jars rarely bring that same price (or appreciate at all) when sold at auction, where buyers are more likely to pay values around wholesale level.
Limoges jars of comparable size, decoration and materials have been selling at auction recently for between $200 and $400.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Limoges porcelain, 24K gold and platinum ginger jar,
made in France, mid/late 20th Century
Of circular section, with domed cover, the tapering bulbous body with a band of platinum between 24K gold gilding, with etched floral decoration. Marked below.
10 inches high
CONDITION: This jar appears to be in good condition; value assumes no chips, breaks, repairs or losses.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 200-400*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
