Elaborately engraved, especially with columns on side and top with carved woman's head and face. Is carved and finely finished wood. Is key-wound up with glass encasing for brass-metal pendulum. The clock works. Is dark wood, maybe mahogany. Is 46" high, 18" width, 7" or 8" inset, approximately 30-35 lbs..
I do not know where it came from. May have been auction or antique store.
This is an antique, 19th century, Victorian era, turned wood, gingerbread style hanging wall pendulum clock with bas-relief classical face affixed to the top. A maker name is not known, though is possibly signed on the works, which can be seen by opening the backside. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
I want to load up some more pictures. How do I do it here?
I just got them; Here they are.
Thank you for the additional images. Is the piece beneath the pendulum marked or signed? Does the backside have an affixed paper label or tag and/or are the works signed on the backside?
The piece beneath the pendulum, the placard, is marked with it's design (in the new photo). There's no affixed paper label on the back but there is a metal placard label with "The Works" shown with the address and phone number of the place where I suppose it was sold from (shown in new photo).
Please add more clear, well-lit images. The photos here are too blurry and dark to be used for an online assessment.
