Hi Kimberly,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The Gunne Sax fashion line is significant for its role in romanticizing vintage fashion during the late 1960s through the 1980s, especially among young women and teens. It became an iconic brand known for its “prairie,” “Edwardian,” and “Victorian”-inspired dresses, and helped define a particular aesthetic in American youth fashion. The brand was founded in 1969 in San Francisco by Eleanor Bailey and Carol Miller, but Jessica McClintock joined in 1969 and quickly took over the company.
Under her creative direction, “Jessica McClintock for Gunne Sax” became the brand’s best-known label and drove its success through the 1980s.
Most vintage fashion trends are nostalgia-driven; today, when sold at auction Gunne Sax pieces, despite being in pristine nearly-new condition, rarely sell for more than $100; this maxi-dress and lace bolero have a combined fair-market value of $75-100 (note that retailers and private sellers may ask for more for similar ones they are selling.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
