Port of Bangkok says - rough sketch A.J. Loftus. Topographer and Surveyor To H.M. The King 1878
Approximately 18 by 12 inches
Hi Lori,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a map of the Port of Bangkok from 1878, charted by A.J. Loftus, a topographical surveyor for the King. The map showcases the Chao Phraya River, with various landmarks like European residences, floating houses, and the New Road. It was printed in English.
I can't tell from this photo if it is an original 1878 (or before 1900) reproduction or a 20th Century replica but I've evaluated it on the assumption that its an early map and worth $300-500; if, upon physical examination, it were determined to be a later replica, it would be worth quite a bit les: perhaps $50-75.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique map of the Port of Bankok
Drawn by A. J. Loftus and published in 1878
18 by 22 inches
CONDITION: This map appears to be in generally good condition; value assumes it to be of the period and not a later replica.
PROVENANCE: Acquired at a second-hand store
$300-500*
