Hello Dante,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Style Tabriz Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1960 to 1980. The piece is very elaborately decorated with a classical Tabriz pattern and floral motifs. The piece is centrally decorated with a central medallion shaped as traditional two Tabriz rugs with two floral lanterns hanging from both sides. Both the interiors of the central are and the interiors of the central medallion are decorated with duplicated "Herati" patterns. Herati pattern is a rotated square connecting flower motifs to each other and composed of a flower motifs on it's each corner. The piece's colour palette is somewhat yellowish in comparison to classical Tabriz pieces. The piece's border decorations are very detailed and large in size with floral motifs of Persian origin. The use of Turquoise colour on borders is very impressive. The piece is knotted wool on cotton. The knot density of the piece appears to be average to high and therefore the motifs were rendered in high precision and clearly. The piece likely originated in Iran but the color palette and the pile suggest India and Pakistan are other possible origins. There were numerous reproductions of Persian piece at the time. The piece is in good condition without visible problems.
Entirely hand knotted.
