3 inches tall by 1 1/2 inch wide. Silver/ pewter base and skull cap Brown jade or brown resin
Found with a bunch of old military stuff
Hello Karen,
Thank you for you appraisal inquiry with MeArto. The item presented appears to be an amber tone resin carving of a male face, composed of many female figures in various positions. The carving appears to be accented by a pewter or silver tone hat and base. The only marking shown is to the underside, appearing to imitate Chinese characters.
The upper right character does not resemble Chinese. I am unable to completely translate that character. It may translate to "Lower." However, the other three character, roughly translate to "No (無) Mekong (米公) Smoke (煙)." This does not make much sense. Mekong may relate to the area the item was produced. If the metal is hallmarked, please let me know.
This item was been produced and seen on the market in stone, resin, and wood. There has not been any artist attribution to the item, only the general date of 20th century. Unfortunately, no other auction listing has translated the characters.
The estimate provided is based on auction estimates and results of this item. Please stay safe and healthy. Thank you.
Hello Karen,
Of course. Please do upload a photo of the marking. I’ll try my best to identify it. You should be able to add images to this listing.
There is a marking on the metal skull cap. Can I send you a picture?
