I don't know anything about this vase since I picked it up at an estate sale... I did not realize it was signed until I removed the price tag. It measures approximately 5.75" X 4 1/8" X 2" and weighs 2 pounds 10.1 ounces. This vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There's probably an easy answer for people who study these things, but the signature on this vase completely stumped me. I hope you can tell me something about this vase.
Unknown...purchased at an estate sale.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a rather common clear glass vase manufactured in Sweden by the Kosta factory, showing a carefully cut image of a Hanse era sailing vessel. The signature at the base most likely reads Kjellander. Lars KJELLANDER (1868-1931) was one of the leading swedish glass designers . The vase in your possession was apparently made by an expert artisan in the 1930s to 1950s after a Kjellander design. The estimate is based on similar sold at auction. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the item.
Thanks for the encouragement, much appreciated!
Good luck with your next purchase or better: ask before you buy,
best
Klaus
Thanks so much for your quick and informative response! When I can't find the answer, coming to Mearto is the way I can learn more about items I have either inherited or picked up at estate sales and thrift stores. I'm so glad to have you as a resource!!! Thanks again.
