What does this mean?

Hello Rebecca,
Thank you for sending in this modern Howard miller wall or shelf clock to mearto.com for an appraisal.
TITLE:
Cherry stained hardwood, quartz movement, time and quarterly chiming movement, wall or shelf clock in the pillar and scroll style, model 631-471, case number 13280262, imported Hermle quartz movement and made and sold by Howard miller clocks, Zeeland Michigan, post 1970.
DESCRIPTION:
The cherry stained hardwood wall clock made in a tradition American style with a pillar and scroll pattern. It can be used as a shelf or a wall clock. Approximately 24" tall and 12" wide. There is a concave broken arch pediment with no terminals centering a wooden plinth with wooden urn and spire finial. Below the pediment is a rectilinear glazed dial door with the side rails having fluted colonnettes with ball and spire finials top and bottom framing the glass. There are two panels at the rear for access to the movement compartment. They appear to be made of particle board as is the dial from the back.
Dial: Square patinated particle board, two part dial patinated in white with a brass colored bezel enclosing the dial. There is a black enameled Arabic hour chapter ring, steel Chippendale style hands, closed minute track to the outside, no winding arbors. A brass ring separates the dial center which is marked for “Howard Miller, Westminster Chime”. There are patinated foliate gilt spandrel decorations in the corner spandrels.
Movement: Appears to be a replacement movement from an earlier Hermle movement to a quartz Hermle 2215 / 2214 Quartz Clock Movement Conversion Kit. This battery powered quartz movement
Quality triple chime quartz movement to replace the now discontinued Hermle mechanical 2214 and 2215 model clock movements. Choice of Westminster, Ave Maria, or bim-bam chimes. Can also be set to strike the hour only. Can be set to play the chimes 24 hours a day or to shut off between 11:00 pm and 5:45 am. One of the most flexible chime units available. Beautiful tubular bell sound chimes through included quality speaker.
Condition:
Case: In excellent condition.
Dial: remain in very fine condition.
Movement: Apparently this quartz movement was a replacement for an earlier pendulum type movement with a different dial, unless this was a clock kit that you ordered.
HISTORY OF THE Howard Miller Clock company:
Howard Miller, son of Herman and trained by him in the Black Forest region of Germany, founded the clock company in 1926, when he was 21 years of age. In its early years it produced chiming wall and mantel clocks. It was not until the 1960's that the Miller Clock company began to produce Hall/Grandfather clocks. It became the world's largest producer of these clocks. Today they use Kieninger clock movements, and purchased this German company not many years ago. They produce the cases in their own factories in Zeeland, Michigan. They produce very nice reproductions of 18th, 19th and 20th century styles in a modern clock.
PRICING: It is stylish and good looking but has little value in today’s marketplace. I believe the fair market value of such a clock in today’s market place would range from $75-$100
Thank you for choosing mearto.com for you appraisal.
