Only information that I know is my father in law mom had bought this at least 30 years ago and when I look online it says it's either a Howard Miller or Ridgeway wooden grandfather clock but says Baldwin in the casing.

Hi Anthony,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Howard Miller, which was founded in 1926 in Zeeland, Michigan is the parent company. Ridgeway became a Howard Miller brand in 1987. Ridgeway clocks are typically traditional grandfather and floor clocks by Howard Miller in 1989 and operated as a premium subsidiary/brand.
Baldwin was positioned as the luxury line, with higher-end cabinetry and furniture finishes. It often features German-made movements (by Hermle or Kieninger) and had a greater emphasis on furniture craftsmanship than mass production. While the company made a fairly broad range of clock forms, they focused on traditional - almost colonial revival - styles rather than novelty or modernist designs.
This clock probably plays at least 1 different chimes. The term grandfather clock is a 20th Century invention; in the 18th and 19th century, these standing floor clocks were called 'Tall Case clocks' in the US and 'Long Case clocks' in the UK.
Many Baldwin clocks that come to auction these days bring fair market prices ranging from $300-500. It's worth noting that private sellers or retailers will be asking higher retail prices for similar examples.
