Excellent condition, all hardwood of some sort, no markings anywhere looks handmade maybe? Would be nice if someone could use an additional piece for their collection.
18 inches wide and 43 inches tall
Hi Ed,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
These chairs were made in the early 20th Century (1900-1925) in great quantity, thanks to advancements in technology; many makers made similar ones so I'm not able to offer an attribution, though it's highly likely this was made in New England, Michigan or Wisconsin but possibly other furniture-making centers in turn-of-the-century America.
These chairs are both so plentiful and comparatively inexpensive that most auction houses won't sell them because there's no profit in doing so. If you were able to get $50 for it in a local tag sale or Facebook marketplace, you'd be doing well.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique American tiger oak turned and caned side chair

With turned stiles framing a shaped crest over five splayed spindles, over a trapezoidal caned seat raised on bulbous legs joined with double box stretchers. Unsigned.
Overall height: 43 inches; width: 18 inches
