A mid‑century modern 8-drawer teak dresser designed by Ib Kofod‑Larsen and produced by Povl Dinesen, Denmark, circa 1960s. This example is part of the PD‑series, a limited cabinetmaker line manufactured in small workshop quantities. The piece features a rectangular case with three vertical banks of four drawers, each fitted with recessed sculpted pulls characteristic of Kofod‑Larsen’s Danish work. The dresser stands on tapered solid‑teak legs and retains its original Povl Dinesen metal badge and “Danish Control” sticker. Construction quality is consistent with Dinesen’s workshop production, including well‑fitted joinery, smoothly operating drawers, and finely finished interiors. The teak exhibits an even tone and visible grain pattern. Condition is excellent for age, with minor, age‑appropriate surface wear and no structural issues noted. This model is considered significantly rarer than the factory‑produced versions made by J. Clausen & Søn / Brande Møbelfabrik, and examples with intact Dinesen markings are sought after by collectors of Danish modern furniture.

Hi Andrew,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Ib Kofod-Larsen (1921–2003) was one of the most refined and internationally influential figures of mid-century Danish design. While less commercially famous than contemporaries like Hans Wegner or Arne Jacobsen, Kofod-Larsen is now highly regarded among collectors for his sculptural elegance and masterful woodworking. He was a freelance designer who did not stay tied to a single factory. Instead, he collaborated with multiple producers depending on the market (Denmark, Sweden, and the UK).
Povl Dinesen was a manufacturer / production partner associated with Danish cabinetmaking and furniture production in the postwar period. His workshop (and associated production entities under the Dinesen name) participated in the network of firms that executed designs by leading Danish modern designers.
Kofod-Larsen created the furniture forms, proportions, and detailing
while the Dinesen workshop produced selected pieces to specification, often in small runs.
Other case pieces designed by Kofod Larsen and made by Povl Dinesen that have come to auction have brought prices ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 and I would expect this to sell (at auction) within a similar range.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
