Porcelain 12x12
Unknown
Dear Stacey,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. These are Japanese Imari and date from the late 19-early 20th century. They appear to be in good condition with no visible cracks, crazing, or chips. They are wheel-made and have hand-painted traditional Imari design and color palette. The designs on Imari porcelain was influenced by textiles produced in the area. The name Imari comes from the port city in which the porcelain goods were originally shipped out and were introduced to the west in the 17th century. The popularity grew so much in Europe that other companies such as Meissen, Derby, and Colbert started producing goods in the same color pallet. Based on recent price realizations, fair market value, your item would be between 100-200 US dollars per plate. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best Regards,
Morgan
