Impressionistic oil painting of a blond mother holding a baby. Rough strokes.
Was always my mother's. Have no idea where she got it.
This is a vintage 20th century oil on canvas painting that is dated (19)73 and illegibly double signed that depicts a mother and child and executed in a thick painterly stroke and limited palette. The signature does appear to possibly be the name Longuet. There are two listed artists who fit the time frame, a Frederic Longuet (1904 - 1987) and Karl Jean Longuet (1904 - 1981). Frederic Longuet's work is moderately similar, though not a definitive match and the other worked primarily in sculpture. This does not serve as an authentication of being by either. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
