We inherited it from my folks and they inherited it from my aunt. She was a secretary at embassies for US Government and in countries of Africa. She retired in 1979.
This is a pair of 20th century hand carved Africam elephant ivory tusks that are done in a bust of a tribal man and a woman, in varying sizes. Elephant ivory is a contentious object to sell on today's market. There are a number of rules based on embargoes and bans and for the most part auction houses and online selling platforms will no longer handle ivory. The estimate is for the pair together based on actual past recorded auction sales of comparables prior to the bans and handling regulations. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
