Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a watercolour by James L.Thomson, dated 1886, depicting a Cottage at Barnhill, Perth. The artist´s address was then Wellbank, Kinnoull, Perth. He apparently exhibited at the Glasgow Instistute of Fine Art and the Royal Scottish Academy from 1882-1891. Little else is known about this watercolour artist. It is a very pleasant watercolour, very much according to the taste of the time. No other paintings by this artist have been sold in recent years. The estimate is based on similar watercolours by lesser known artists offered or sold at auction. As always "asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
