My parents bought this Kimono in Japan in 1974 when I was touring with a youth symphony. It's in beautiful condition and made of silk.
Long coat length
Hello, this item is a silk robe purchased in Japan in 1974, described as a Japanese kimono. The garment is long coat length, in a bright pink silk with gold woven designs and decorative frog closures. While labeled a kimono, the style more closely resembles a Chinese cheongsam-inspired robe due to its high collar and front fastenings, differing from the open-fronted structure of traditional Japanese kimono. Such garments were widely sold in Japan during the 1960s–1970s to tourists, blending East Asian motifs into decorative silk robes.
As a vintage silk piece in beautiful condition, it holds both collectible and decorative appeal, though not in the same category as antique Japanese kimono with historical value. On the secondary market, similar mid-20th century tourist or export silk robes generally sell between 100 and 250 USD, depending on fabric quality, craftsmanship, and preservation.
