In scabbard about 18 in long. Blade without hilt about 12 inches long. The handle looks like it has shark skin or some other sea creature skin
My father got this when he was in world war II in Japan. He never used it.

The presented object appears to be a Japanese "Wakizaki" short sword with unknown measurements. It was probably made in the Edo Period in Japan.
