Japanese Tea Bowl
12 August 2025
Description

This tea bowl in its box was a gift from a Japanese exchange student to our family in 1999. I am not able to read the box, but have included many pictures. I understand that the clay technique used is what this particular artist is known for. The “river” of lighter shade of cream in the sea of grey is not only in the glaze, it is in the clay itself, thus visible on both the inside and outside. It is in excellent condition, including the box. There appear to me some light water marks on the wooden box, which is in the picture, but other than that it is in pristine condition, including original fabric wrapping, and original ribbon.
