Dear Julie,
Your Kimono is indeed made in Japan and is not very old. Its made of silk and the embroidery is hand made. Also ink is used to paint some of the decoration. The cranes represent good fortune and longevity in Japan. Objects with cranes on it or given as a present to someone to wish him a good and long life. The quality of the work done on the Kimono is not very good. I believe this Kimono is meant to be for decoration and is not made as a traditional robe. That influences the price of the object. I believe that if your object came to auction you would expect it to fetch a price around the estimate.
