Japanese Wood Block Print
Approx. 29” wide by 15” tall, this wood block print depicts the battle of Keinchin vs Shingen, circa 1500. It was a print given to us from my wife’s grandmother, and appears to be of unknown age.

Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be triptych woodblock by Utagawa Sadahide (歌川 貞秀, Japanese, 1807 - 1878) titled "The Armies of Uesugi Kenshin and Takeda Shingen Facing Each Other" (Uesugi Takeda taijin yaawase no zu). The print was published by Yamaguchiya Tôbei (Kinkôdô), circa 1848. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work and other comparable triptych woodblock by Utagawa Sadahide.
