I believe this to be a Mid-War Type 30 bayonet made by Matsushita Kinzoku KK (Matsushita Metalworking Corp.) The bayonet blade is 15 3/4" and hilt is 4 3/8". Blade has no unusual nicks and still has the blue color to most of it. The blue on the tip of the blade is worn off some. The hilt is wood and has 2 nicks. The locking mechanism works. The scabbard has minor scratches and some small rust spots. The blade is stamped with the Japanese Stacked cannonballs (Kokura Arsenal mark) and "M" with an arrow through it. The pommel is stamped with Japanese characters followed by 25248.

Dear Elaine,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a Japanese Type 30 bayonet made by Matsushita Kinzoku KK (Matsushita Metalworking Corp). As all of these bayonets, this piece is also stamped with an arsenal hallmark in this case the Kokura Arsenal mark. This piece was highly possible took by a GI after WWII and brought to the US.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 100 to 200 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
