I bought this at an estate sale because I thought it was neat. I can't really tell what the signature is. It looks like AHLM or AWM dated 1948 It was professionally framed in Albany NY December 1948 and sent to Westlake Vanitie Fair Since it’s been framed since then I would say the picture is in great condition

Hello Shelly,
Thank you very much for submitting your item for an online appraisal and for your patience.
The presented object appears to be a pen an ink drawing of a Harlequin in an oval frame which measures approximately 12 x 10 inches and looks to be in very good condition. The artwork is signed with a monogram and dated "48." Unfortunately the monogram cannot be attributed to a known artist and the overall quality of the work would suggest that the artist who created it was a skilled amateur.
If you would like to sell this work, I would suggest an attribution of "20th Century American School" and the title "Harlequin."
Harlequin is a stock character from the Italian Commedia dell'Arte, a theatrical form that began in the 16th century. Known for his checkered costume and playful, mischievous nature, Harlequin typically serves as a clever servant or trickster figure, often involved in comic entanglements and romantic pursuits. In art history, Harlequin has been a popular subject, notably appearing in the works of artists like Pablo Picasso and Paul Cézanne.
Based on recently achieved auction results for similar items, I would estimate the fair market value of your drawing at $50 to $100, though retail and asking prices may vary.
