This was mixed in with a lot we bought at an auction. Was a collection of JFK stuff
Dear Mike - What an interesting piece of history! Let me tell you a little about it. In May of 1961 delegates from the Mayors of America Unity Program presented a “Declaration of Unity” to then president, John F. Kennedy. The declaration which was presented was signed by 1200 mayors (https://www.jfklibrary.org/Asset-Viewer/Archives/JFKPOF-102-005.aspx). Your piece likely was presented to each of the 1200 mayors who signed the document given to Kennedy. Edward G. Koenig was Mayor Bordentown, NJ and as an individual, quite an accomplished gentleman (http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/news-press/obituary.aspx?n=g-edward-koenig&pid=18665927). While the proclamation commemorates a moment connected to Kennedy, because it isn’t signed by Kennedy this piece has an auction value of between $50 - $60.
Cheers,
Erin-Marie
Unfortunately I posted this quite a while ago. I’ve since sold it. But... I’m pretty sure you could find one on eBay. Good luck.
Is this item available for sale? My wife's great great uncle was Anthony Celebrezze, and I'm trying to collect some old memorabilia for her...
