Hello, I bought this sword in Thailand approx in 2005. I found it at a gigantic swap meet. It has engraving on both side of the blade that reads Longquan sword in fullform script and has 7 brass inlay holes which is why I bought it Ive never seen that before. Trying to guage approx date of this. Im not sure if the handle/scabbard are Thai or Chinese. The blade is definately hand made as can see hammer marks, but its sharp and very straight and ready for business! haha
Bangkok swap meet with hundreds of other swords.
Dear Kelly,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a modern sword "Jian" sword which was made in the second half of the 20th century. Such pieces are made mainly in China.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 50 to 100 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
