John Widdicomb desk & chair
A yellow desk with painted leaves etc, measurements are37 1/2 in tall, 32 1/2 in wide & 20 in depth. Has the numbers 948 P346 engraved in desk & 346 in the chair.

Dear Patricia,
Thank you for your request. This is a period furniture set including a bureau and one chair. Both pieces are designed in the style of the middle of the 18th century. Especially the rolling shapes are a characteristic of the rococo style and this decor is imitating French provincial furniture. Also, both pieces are lacquered and painted with flowers and leaves. The manufacturer of this pieces the Widdicomb Furniture Company was founded in 1858 and this set was produced in the 20th century.
An estimate would be between 500 and 1000 USD

Georg, a questions for you, was this mass produced by Widdocomb? We were told by the owner that this was one of a kind and was worth 5 grand back 20 years ago, so I’m wondering why they would have told us that at the time of what your saying is correct!!
