Jurassic Period Wave-formed ripple stone was originally purchased from Paleo Direct in 2013. Location: Rolan Period: Jurassic: 161.2 - 155 Million Years In sedimentology, wave-formed ripples or wave-formed ripple marks are a feature of sediments (sandstones, limestones, siltstones) and dunes. These ripple marks are often characterized (and thus distinguished from current ripples) by symmetric cross sections and long relatively straight crests, which may commonly bifurcate.

Jurassic Period wave-formed ripple stone is a fascinating and informative type of sedimentary rock. It provides us with a glimpse into the ancient marine environment of the Jurassic Period. Examples of this stone can be found in many parts of the world. Some notable examples include the Morrison Formation in the western United States, the Solnhofen Limestone in Germany, and the Jurassic Coast in England. This example would be a beautiful architectural display mounted on a wall or incorporated into a room divider. Measurements: 27" Height x 20.5" Weight x .5" to 1" Depth; weight not given.
I did not find many current auction results for a similar example in size or condition. To determine fair market value; it is often from the averages of these results that help me to determine a value to give. I did find several retail sales of wave-formed- ripple stone. Retail mark-up is typically 70% or more of a FMV. Retail results were $1000 to $1500 USD.
