Swans... watercolor 16x20 range
It came from my grandmother's estate. She had really good taste and traveled Europe especially Eastern Europe and has a lot of artwork. I have this painting and two others that have similar signatures.
This is a framed 20th century work by Romanian artist, Karl Ewald Olszewski (1884 - 1965) depicting swans in flight over a coastal area with water and beach dunes. It is purported here to be a watercolor, however the photos are not clear and well-lit enough to be definitive that the medium is watercolor and that this is not a color print reproduction. Olszewski worked in both oil and watercolor and oil paintings sell for higher than watercolor. Birds, or fowl were popular subjects of his works. The estimate is based on the presumption that is an original watercolor and not a print and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
