Katana
I believe this to be a Katana. It appears to be 40 inches long with a wooden sheath that is 30 inches long. The sheath is worn looking. There is some writing on it. There is a notch taken out of the sheath as well. View in pictures please. The sword part has the handle a guard for your hand and the blade itself. Appears to be sharp and in need of a cleaning perhaps.

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal and the patience. This appears to be an early 20th century Katana. Apparently the blade is not signed, only on the koiguchi of the scabbard is a signature 甘王齋 (面??). The writing on the paper is barely legible. The estimate is based on similar early 20th century Katana sold at auction.
