Dear Jay,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please have a close look to the base if there is a hallmark or signature. If possible please also add an image of these numbers.
With kind regards,
Georg
Send your email address please thanks
Dear Jay,
Thank you for the additional images. Actually, I am checking the literature regarding the bigger ceramic manufactures as a little update. Such a big sculpture needs an experienced and professional manufacturer. Curiously this statue is not marked with a producer hallmark. I will send you tomorrow the results. Thank you for your patience.
With kind regards,
Georg
Any info yet... The dealer told me it was an original by a famous artist.. Though he could not provide any info... I will say it's flawless no sign of joining of molds at all. Didn't check to see if it was solid or not but my guess is that's it's hollow... Just a guess... Thanks
Side note.. I'm under no illusions about the sculpture just excited to get the truth and history on the piece.. She's flawless and I love her... Thank you for your help. Jay
Dear Jay,
Thank you for this additional information and your patience. The presented object is a largely sized terracotta sculpture of a nude with a height of 32 inches. The woman is shown in a balancing pose and there is no signature visible. Stylistically this statue was made in the Art Deco period in the 1930s or 1940s. The pose and the depiction of the body remind of the German artist Fritz KLIMSCH (1870-1960), but the face of this sculpture is much too soft depicted. Sadly there is no artist to name who we can attribute without doubt as an artist.
Nevertheless, it is high quality and wonderful terracotta sculpture which has its market value. The number under the bottom is a hint that this could be a model number and this terracotta was made in a higher number of pieces.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 800 to 2000 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
I lost our emails...wanted to say it looked like some kind of Mark above the numbers under the base...
