The desk is made of knotty pine. The top piece can be removed from the 2 side pieces. 32" height 71" long 36" wide
I bought it from an estate sale
Good afternoon, Angel,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. I have not found any other kidney desks made of knotty pine to compare this to, and the metal mounts are a very Continental detail on a rather English form so I am not quite sure what to make of this but it's quite a serviceable piece of furniture. Other kidney desks have sold recently as follows:
($50) https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/federal-style-mahogany-kidney-desk-american-mid-566cbaa1db
($325) https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/empire-style-oak-kidney-shaped-flat-top-double-pe-e5226cadb0
($533) https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/oak-kidney-shaped-flat-top-double-pedestal-desk.-8ab0f8f8fa
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, you have a:
Regence style knotty pine gilt metal mounted double pedestal kidney desk
Continental, probably late 19th century
In three sections (top and two pedestal supports, each support with cupboard doors, the top with inset leather).
32 inches high, 71 inches long, 36 inches deep
PROVENANCE: purchased from an estate sale
$250-350 (represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary).
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto.
