Depicts 2 women in kimono like robes one being pink with scales and the other green with flowers. Painting is about 3 and a half ft tall and 2 or so ft wide. Original wood frame with brass looking fixture.
My aunt acquired it in south korea i believe in her time in the army.
Thank you for contacting Mearto. This is an ink painting of two figures. From the clothing, hairstyles, posture, and composition, it is Japanese, or at least in the Japanese style. The red seals indicate collectors or artist names. They are in kanji, which is used in China, Korea, or Japan. Unfortunately, they do not match any known artists.
The painting itself is done well, precise but not very intricately detailed. This was probably made in the 20th century. The brass fitting has a taotie style shape, which is used in East Asian countries, but does not give any more specific information in this case.
The large size and specific dimensions for this genre is unusual. Usually works like this are either closer to 12β by 16β or else done on elongated scroll surfaces. This piece is special.
There is some discoloration in the surface of the work, perhaps from humidity, which will negatively affect the price. Based on sales of similar works, the Fair Market Value is between $50 and $150.
