I know it's carved out of shell and that it's placed within 14Y gold according to the imprint on the back side of it. The deminsions I've included with pictures to reference.
Unknown, it was traded to me years ago. I do not believe the previous owner had any sense of value toward the piece, but I've come to know that it happens to fall into a collection of jewelery that's rather antique and more rare for today
This is an antique, later 19th century, about 1890, Victorian era, 14k gold cased, hand carved shell cameo pin brooch and pendant featuring a woman's head in profile. This was made in Italy. They were sold as souvenir items from the country during the popular "Grand Tour' vacations taken by wealthy Europeans in the 18th and 19th centuries. The carving on this is less intricate than seen on other pieces. Value is based on actual recent past auction sales of comparables. Retail and 'asking prices' may be higher.
