Hello Diane,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Blown Murano Style Glass Globe with Aquario Theme. The piece likely dates back to the period from 1980 to 2000. This aquario theme was clearly a synthetic representation of the marine life transformed into glass. The piece was made in Murano Style but since there is no visible marking or signature on the piece we can not authenticate it as a Murano piece just based on these pictures. Most Murano pieces in this style were more abstracted in design while this piece was mostly composed of realistic shapes and animals. At the top of the piece there is a decoration constructed by using dolphin figures, they are depicted as surrounding the pole of the globe. On the lower area we can see several types of fish with a red dominance. The only abstraction on the piece appears to be the exploding white figure at the center of the piece. The base finish is frosted. The piece is in good condition without any visible problems.
