Hi Kathy,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a later form of a Welsh dresser, a traditional piece of wooden furniture that originated in Wales and was commonly used in country homes throughout Britain and Ireland. It combines storage and display functions and typically consists of two main parts: a lower section with a cabinet with cupboards and drawers used to store kitchenware, linens, or other dining items; and the upper section, with open shelves rising above the base. Where original Welsh dressers were made of inexpensive wood, this later reproduction has a dark stain that's hiding the wood grain but it could be made of walnut or pine or elm. Also, earlier Welsh dressers did not have mirrored top parts, which signifies that this was made in the mid 20th Century.
I would not be surprised if this had a stamp or label somewhere identifying who made it, and when.
While many people no longer have a formal dining room, these pieces retain their function due to their large storage capacity and functionality in displaying items on top. When they come to auction, they usually sell for prices ranging from $800-1,200.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
