Thanks, Holly.
I have access to the Chairish database and they are asking $2.200 for this, which is a retail price and 3-4 times the fair market values Mearto uses in its appraisals. Many of these elephants are made in Asia - I've seen similar ones made in Korea, Vietnam, China and India, though without a stamp or mark it's hard to say with 100% certainty.
While the value on this elephant might seem somewhat modest, it has an impressive presence and stature and is highly collectible as a decorative item.
Thanks again for using Mearto; please let us know if you have other items you'd like us to appraise for you.
Have a great day!
Delia
Hi, I do not believe it is solid brass in the body but it appears that the tusks, snout, ears, and tail are sold brass. It looks like it was joined together from two pieces and then "welded" together down the center. It appears to be very much likes this: https://www.chairish.com/product/5610415/large-brass-elephant-statue?gad_source=4&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgPrq7PWwhgMVd3J_AB0chwLJEAQYBCABEgLSufD_BwE
I do not have a Chairish account so I can't see the full details of this but this is what Google Imaging showed as a "match". It is very heavy though; I could weigh it when I get home but it is definitely 25-30# or more if I could guess.
