Hello Garry,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian-Indo style piece likely knotted in a private weaving atelier in Kuwait. Piece dates back to the year 2007. Kuwait does not have a perminant tradition of hand knotted carpets, at least as we know it as Oriental Rugs. Therefore the rugs bought in Kuwait is either made in a few ateliers in Kuwait or imported from Pakistan-India. The piece is for sure not made in Iran. The piece's colour palette is very different from persian Rugs and resemble more of a Pakistani style, but when we observe the sewing on the edges we can clearly say that this piece was most probably made in Kuwait. The piece has a cenral decoration, therefore a central medallion. The central medallion and the rest of the pattern was decorated florally. The central are was decorated on a Light Khaki Colour while teh borders were decorated on a shiny brown colour. The wool used on the piece was probably treated with certain chemicals to obtain a silk line shiny look. The piece was knotted wool on coton and the knot density of the piece is average. The motifs are rendered somewhat with a pixel like appearance. Usually not sought after in marekt due to colour palette and style. The piece is in good condition without visible problems.
Entirely hand knotted.

Dear Garry,
I'm sorry for the disappointment but always consider that this is a fair market value rather than a retail price. This kind of rugs are not highly sought after in the market due to their comparison with Turkish and Persian pieces. I would not expect it to reach more than 1200 at any auction. But in case of retail you can always consult local dealers. Thank you.
thanks for your response but I am quite disappointed! From another reputable dealer I was quoted "easily £5000".
